Rice Bran is the newest and most nutritious food source to be made available for human consumption in modern history. Rice Bran has the potential to do so many good things for so many people. Rice bran is the part of the rice kernel that is removed from the rice in the milling process of making white rice. While its high quality nutritional value is well known, it was deemed unusable by the food and drug administration. This was because the rice bran breaks down or goes bad very quickly. Consequently, 16 millions tons of Rice Bran was either turned into the soil, burned or discarded. It was the earths most unused food source. Until now.

Rice bran comes packed with 120 anti oxidants, vitamin b and an incredibly complex form of vitamin E. Rice bran is a whole food. The biological machinery that does the work of processing nutrition for the human body is already contained naturally in the rice bran. Normally the human body will react to the intake of a vitamin and process what it needs to process the vitamin, but only 33% of the vitamin is ever absorbed into the body. With Rice and Shine, made with rice bran. The process of absorbing nutrition into the body at a faster rate and with more nutrition actually being deliver to the bodies systems is achieved, making it a much better delivery method for the absorption of nutrients.

Patty McPeak started her work on rice bran in 1982. She and her team set out and invented the process and equipment that is able to deactivate the enzyme responsible for making the rice bran go bad. This process takes place right after the rice bran is stripped from the brown rice kernel in the milling process of turning brown rice to white rice. As a result, rice bran now has a shelf life of 2 to 3 years. This makes it possible to add rice bran into almost anything we eat.

Patty McPeak's first product using the rice bran she made available is called Rice n Shine. A flavorful, heart happy meal replacement shake. It comes in 2 flavors. Chocolate and Vanilla. It is a meal replacement drink that is selling now. There are many products that will be coming out in the near future from lots of companies wanting to take advantage of this great new food source. These are just the first implementations for the use of rice bran, but to be sure, the future for this food source and what it can do for man kind is very promising.
